Mental Health First Aid is a public education program designed to teach everyday citizens the skills to help another person who is struggling with a mental health concern or crisis. This evidence-based program provides a comprehensive overview of the most common mental health issues and a step by step action plan.
The class will be taught in-person and runs for eight hours. There will be morning and afternoon breaks and a lunch break. Participants will not need to bring any materials or a laptop to the class, everything will be provided.
Each participant receives access to the Mental Health First Aid online manual, and certification by the National Council for Behavioral Health as a "Mental Health First Aider." Certification is valid for a period of 3 years, and then renewable online.
